21-Yr-Previous Scholar Dies By Suicide In IIT Delhi Hostel: Cops

New Delhi:

A 21-year-old engineering pupil allegedly hanged himself in his hostel room at Indian Institute of Expertise (IIT) Delhi on Friday night, police mentioned.

Anil Kumar was pursuing B.Tech in Arithmetic and Computing (session 2019-2023), and was staying in Vindhyachal Hostel of the institute, a senior police officer mentioned.

The matter was reported round 6 pm at Kishangarh Police Station.

In response to the institute’s guidelines, Anil Kumar was purported to vacate the hostel room in June, however since he couldn’t qualify some topics he was given an extension for six months to clear his topics, the officer mentioned.

The door was closed from inside and needed to be damaged open by the fireplace division.

The dean of scholars/CMO IIT, chief safety officer, crime and forensic groups have been current on the time of breaking of the door.

No foul play has been noticed to this point. Inquest proceedings are being carried out, police added.
